Welcome

Dimora Elce

Dimora Elce is in Via Arditi 1, bordered by holm oak trees, on the first floor of a late ‘30s building entirely built of Lecce stone, the local limestone characterized by its warm and golden colors.

The suite is located 700 meters (8 minutes walk) from the Basilica of Santa Croce – emblem of the Baroque Lecce – and the former convent of Celestini, from where you can immerse yourself in the historic core of Lecce, with its noble palaces and its countless Baroque churches.

Just 400 meters there is Piazza Mazzini, the city’s shopping center.

Patrizia Carichino

My name is Patrizia...

Born in the mid-1960s and raised in the southernmost tip of Puglia, in Salento.

From that strip of land, as a young girl I dreamed of leaving, driven by the curiosity and the desire for discovery that accompany that unique, complex, yet wonderful phase of life that is youth.

That small corner of the world in the South felt suffocating—or at least that was how I perceived it—while elsewhere everything seemed, or was meant to be, better and more dynamic.

The first step away came, though not too far, with the beginning of my university studies in a large city Bari. Even if still within regional borders, it represented change, chaos, beginnings, both beautiful and difficult experiences, and above all, the first real test of determination and strength in shaping one’s ambitions into something concrete.

Then came the true departure. A period that lasted more than twenty years in northern Italy, during which a family life was built and held together with no small amount of effort.

That great geographical distance, and the contrast experienced firsthand between a hurried, somewhat distracted North—always rich in opportunities—and a South ever ready to welcome, sacred guardian of affections, rituals, traditions, familiar faces and embraces, became my point of re-departure: a moment to acknowledge and gather longing and nostalgia.

It was a time of reflection, but also of action, giving shape and voice to the desire to return to my roots—roots that had become a calling, so strong it could no longer be ignored.

Dimora Elce was born: a wish fulfilled, grounded in a life experience that, by taking me far from my origins, awakened an awareness of the enchantment and uniqueness of those still-silent landscapes, of traditions and rituals that convey the comfort of belonging, and of the aristocratic aura of the Salento’s provincial capital, Lecce—now discovered and admired far and wide.

Dimora Elce also carries the ambition of being a place of sharing between different cultures without losing its own identity, of making guests feel at home even when they are far from home.

After all, it is the magic of this land: it makes you feel welcomed.

No matter where you come from or what brings you here to Salento, you will always find a land ready to welcome you, to embrace you with its art, its history, its culture, its food, and its light.
This is also the spirit that inspires me and that I wanted to be reflected in my home… I look forward to welcoming you and helping you discover and fall in love with the warmth of my Puglia.
